Arts Roseville Featured Artist: Marlena Myles

Each month, meet and learn from a different local artist. Featured artists (visual and performance) will share about their art, discuss creativity, and respond to questions in an informal setting. This program is presented in partnership with Arts Roseville and funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. There is no cost to attend and all are welcome.

Marlena Myles is a Native American artist located in Saint Paul. She is one of few Dakota women creating digital art of fabric patterns, animations and illustrations to bring a modernity to indigenous history, languages and oral traditions. She enjoys using her artwork to teach Minnesotans the indigenous history of her traditional Dakota homelands here in the Twin Cities. Her first illustrated children's book will be released in September, Thanku: Poems About Gratitude. She is currently working on her second book Powwow Day and creating a coloring book that will focus on the Dakota language, plants/medicines, stories and people. Her work has been shown at All My Relations Gallery, Two Rivers Gallery, the Minnesota Museum of American Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Art among others.
