Our Nation’s Endless Civil War with James Stewart

The struggle for dignity and full citizenship for African-Americans didn’t end at Appomattox or even with the passage of the landmark Civil Rights legislation of the 1960s.  Some would contend that, for many, the Civil War continues to this day.  Join renowned scholar of the Abolitionist Movement, Prof. Emeritus Jim Stewart of Macalester, for a new examination of the ongoing legacy of our nation’s most divisive conflict.  Recommended reading for this class is Challenging the Boundaries of Slavery by David Brion Davis.  A limited number of copies are available for request through the Library.
