Common Threads: The Immigration Experience Book Club

Come explore the issue of immigration while reading a series of books written from multiple perspectives. Immigration remains a contentious topic in the present. This book club aims to place immigration into historical context by examining many of the common themes that link all immigrants, no matter their place of origin. This book club will launch with a look at the experiences of African Americans as they migrated northward during the Great Migration. Then it will turn to more recent immigrants, with special attention given to Hmong, African, and Latino immigrants. June's selection is The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson.
